We need more police officers like him.

FEB. 2002
The Rec Cross Childrens Hospital Tauma Unit in Cape Town for its
unstinting love and devotion to children, especially those raped and abused.
It is the only trauma centre of its type on the African continent and deals
with hundreds of children in severe distress every year - despite limited
funding.

MARCH 2002
Matron Nomvula Silwane-Kwadjo of the Womens Unit at Cecilia Makiwane Hospital, for her exceptional dedication to women, youth and children, who never lets resources deficiencies get in the way of her innovative, cheerful, caring style.

APRIL 2002
Dr Adrienne Wulfsohn of Sunninghill Hospital,Netcare group, Johannesburg who has completed the world's largest study into the relationship between rape, HIV and anti-retrovirals, but whose passion to healing the total rape survivor is unquestioned and deeply appreciated.

MAY 2002
The SA Law Commission task force amending and creating new sexual offences legislation, headed by Joan van Niekerk,
 for their energy, empathy and drafting cutting edge
world-beating new rape legislation.
May parlaiment endorse it.

JUNE 2002
The Moroka Swallows football team who have decided to speak out against violence against women and children for the 2002/3 year - and have the white ribbon emblazoned on their kit.
