'Four-year-old taken by teenager and raped'

A four-year-old girl was raped after being taken from the yard of her home at Mbazwana near Richards Bay on Friday evening, police reported.

Superintendent Jay Naicker said the girl was playing with other children at her home in the Mseleni area at Mbazwana at about 7pm when a boy of sixteen, apparently a neighbour, entered the yard and took her away.

When the girl returned the mother discovered that she had been raped. The mother took her to a doctor, who confirmed the rape.

The suspect was arrested and will appear in the Mbazwana magistrate's court on Tuesday, said Naicker. - Sapa
