Teen in court for 'crying rape'

A 14-year-old girl is expected to appear in Limpopo's Nebo magistrate's court on Friday after she allegedly lied about being raped by her boyfriend, police said.

Captain Mohale Ramatseba said the girl was caught in bed with her boyfriend at her grandmother's home in Nebo.

"Fearing that her grandmother would punish her, the girl claimed that her 16-year-old boyfriend was raping her. The grandmother accompanied her to the police station to lay a charge of rape against him."

Police investigated the incident and discovered that the girl had manufactured the incident, Ramatseba said.

The girl faces a perjury charge. - Sapa
