NEWS A woman is killed every six hours in SA by her intimate partner. The study was conducted by the Medical Resarch Council's Gender and Health group, the University of Cape Town division of forensic medicine and toxicology and the Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation. It said that SA has the highest rate of intimate femicide of any country in the world where it has been studied. Coloured women have twice the risk of being killed than other racial groups in SA. One in every 5 of the perpetrators of intimate femicide owned a firearm. Only 35% of perpertrators were convicted of the crime. © Speak Out Terms of use
