Teen to appear in court after baby rape,Sapa, 29 July 2007

A 16-year-old boy will appear in court after he allegedly raped a 21-month-old toddler in Kommetjie Poort, Mpumalanga police said on Sunday.
Superintendent Abie Khoabane said the 21-month-old was taken to her babysitter at the Naas township on Friday morning by her brother who was meant to write an exam.
The babysitter was not home so he requested that the babysitter's brother, a 16-year-old grade six pupil at a local primary school, take care of the girl until he returned from his exam.
"The 16-year-old then took a chance of raping the 21-month-old toddler and after the boy wrote exams he came to fetch her and she was crying all the time," Khoabane said.
The child later revealed to her mother that the boy had "urinated inside her", he said.
The mother found that the girl had severe injuries to her private parts and was rushed to the hospital where rape was confirmed.
The 16-year-old will appear in the Tsonga magistrate's court on Monday. - Sapa
