SENTENCING IN CHILD RAPE November 18, 2002
A 75-year-old Bridgeport man who admitted impregnating a 10-year-old girl he met through an "Adopt a Godfather" program at a housing complex for the elderly has been sentenced to 12 years in prison. On Friday, a judge sentenced the man, Jimmie Kave, who pleaded guilty last month to charges of sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. The girl gave birth in May, and she and her child are in state custody. (AP)
