I guess I would like to start this out by referring to your quote.....

"Charlene Smith, a leading anti-rape campaigner, said: “This is a medieval instrument, based on male-hating notions and fundamentally misunderstands the nature of rape and violence against women in this society. It is vengeful, horrible, and disgusting. The woman who invented this needs help."

I am not a vengeful person in any way, shape or form. However, RAPE is a vengeful, horrible, and disgusting act on to itself. To say or even elaborate that a rapist or the act of rape is "misunderstood" is an ignorant statement. For anyone to violate a person in such a manner is inexcusable and should not be tolerated in any society whatsoever.

A person that does commit such an act loses any type of rights they may have had and should be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law, no questions asked. It is useless to try and "understand" why a person "rapes". Quite honestly, who cares. We as a society need to deal with this type of behavior swiftly and set very strong, no holds-barred examples of these people so that anyone that may have had any intentions of committing such acts will think twice or maybe try to get help before hand. Pandering to someone that has committed rape is like putting a band-aid on a gun wound. It serves no purpose.

I strongly endorse Sonette Ehlers, her device, and people like her for thinking proactively instead of trying to figure out why a person did what they did after the fact.

You of all people, considering your background should be behind her and not opposing. Maybe you are the one that "needs help" and should rethink your position on this issue. I'm sure that an over-whelming majority of rape victims would agree with me.

Thank you for your time.

Sean

Sean - you write with the ignorance of someone who has not been raped, I'll say no more, our opposition - myself and that of numerous organisations comes from women who have been raped, we are the real experts, not you, it would be nice if you tendered a little respect.
