Dear Speakout,

My name is Hugh Lagan and I am currently a research psychologist at the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology in Boston, MA (USA). I write to you with a request - I am currently writing a paper addressing the issue of child sexual abuse in Africa. I am seeking information related to the following two topics :

1. Child sexual abuse in Africa

2. Child sexual abuse by clergy in Africa

I am seeking written articles, research papers, relevant databases and possible contacts of individuals familiar with any of the above issues. Would you know of any counselors/social workers/psychologists who have worked with child/adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse?

I appreciate that you have many commitments and so very much appreciate any help, no matter how small, you may be in a position to offer in researching this little known topic.

I have myself worked for four years in Tanzania and several years in Kenya at the Amani Counseling and Training Institute in Nairobi.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Dear Hugh,

Because this site is purely voluntary I am copying this to people who can help you - or point you in the right direction. I trust you have already done a thorough search of the site. I have written on the issue extensively and if you do a websearch of my name and too look under newspaper sites like www.iol.co.za or www.media24.com or www.mg.co.za you will find plenty of material.

Good luck with your research
