LATEST RAPE FINDINGS
- 54 000 reported incidents of rape in 1998, says SA Police Service, which translates to 244/100 000 women.
- Medical Research Council has found 2 070 rapes/100 000 women - about 10 times higher than the reported figures.
- Half of 26 000 Johannesburg high-school students interviewed believe forced sex is not sexual violence.
