CDA ontsteld oor verkragting van twee meisies by Knysna
(Comprehensive text in English hereunder)

CDA mourns rape of two girls in Knysna
The CDA has reacted with sadness to the rape of two young girls in
Knysna and express their sympathies to the girls and their families.
"This despicable crime continues unabated across our country and our
current politicians seem unwilling or unable to do anything about
it," said Theunis Botha, a member of the CDA Federal Leadership
Council.
"Rape remains one of the most horrific crimes committable by mankind
and yet our response as a nation is apathetic to say the least,"
said Botha. "Our police remain ill equipped to deal with the
victims, our medical facilities are totally inadequate and our
trauma counselling services almost non existent."
"How can we claim to be a caring nation when we allow woman to be
treated in this manner?" he said.
"Once again however, pornography has been directly linked to the
crime and it is time that government took cognisance of the facts
staring them in the face," he said.
"Police statistics worldwide, as well as evidence in our own country
show clear links between pornography and the prevalence of rape and
yet we continue to allow this filth to fill the minds of our
people." said Botha.
"The CDA has long warned of the social danger of allowing
pornography to pervade our communities and we are paying the price
of so called liberals ignoring the signs, in favour of so called
freedom of choice and expression," he said.
"We would like to know what freedom of choice these two young girls
had," he said.

Two men and a woman have been arrested in connection with the rape
of two teenagers in Knysna.
The two girls, aged 16 and 17, were on their way to a nearby shop
when the uncle of one of them asked them to help him carry DVDs to
his house, police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie.
When the girls entered the house, the uncle's woman friend closed
and locked the door behind them.
When the girls asked to be allowed to leave, the woman refused,
Pojie said.
The girls had been forced to watch pornographic videos with the
couple before another man and the uncle tied their hands and covered
their mouths.
The two men had then undressed the girls and raped them, Pojie said.
The father of one of the girls came looking for them, forced the
door to the uncle's house open and rescued them, he said.
The father took the girls to his house and alerted the police.
"The victims were under stress and trauma," Pojie said on Sunday.
"They were taken to hospital for examination and for treatment."
The police had also arranged for the two girls to receive victim
support and trauma counselling, Pojie said.
The two men and the woman had been arrested and the trio were
expected to appear in the Knysna Magistrate's Court on Sunday. -
