After sexual assault, condom breakage etc is not clear. In the UK it is
managed case by case, depending on risk categorisation. The sooner the
better. There is some evidence that it may not be as effective > 48-72
hours.

Given the high rates of HIV infection, every act of rape can be considered
high risk. Against this is late presentation and inappropriate treatment.
Non-adherence/non-compliance may lead to further mutatiion of the virus.
