"Our usual meditation technique could be used for people who have a stronger character and perhaps are beyond the severely traumatised stage.

"This next practice can be said out loud in a group or silently and / or privately. Some holistic phrases to be used at your discretion for forgiveness: " Make yourself comfortable and become aware of your natural breath and relax. When you are simply aware of breathing in and out and feel centred, then begin the forgiveness meditation. Go slowly and feel the meaning and intent of each word. Try to repeat the first phrase over and over many times until it really sinks in, until you really feel it and mean it. Only then go on to the second and third.

"In many ways I have caused harm and suffering to other beings, I forgive myself. May they be free from their suffering.
" In many ways I have caused harm and suffering to myself, I forgive myself. May I be free from my suffering.
" In many ways I have been harmed by others, I forgive them. May they be free from their suffering.
" After the practice of forgiveness, let yourself feel the breath gently. Feel the fresh air come in and the stale air go out. This is symbolic of your new state of being, out with the old, in with the new. Relax, live and love."
