SURVIVOR'S
STORIES I, too, use writing to work through my rapes (and kidnapping). Six months after the two month ordeal was over, I attempted suicide. The doctors said that I took eight times the dosage I needed to kill me. My body flushed it all, no side effects. They said the only reason I was alive was because I really did not want to die. I use everything I have learned to help others. I work with Holocaust survivors. We have odd things in common and it's amazing how they just KNOW when they're talking with me. They taught me how to survive. I give back to them by helping them through the tangled maze of Holocaust Reparations. I certainly understand the principle. And I NEVER use the term "Holocaust victim." They also despise that. A forum that might be advantageous is: www.saf.org. It's the Survivors Art Foundation. It's a forum for art in any medium that has helped its creator survive a trauma. Contributors range from Holocaust survivors to rape survivors, brain tumor, car accidents, AIDS- It's extraordinary. I am certain that the woman who created it would love to start a branch in SA. Angel, USA © Speak Out Terms of use |
